The Metrolina Alliance of School-Age Professionals (MASAP) is an alliance of school-age professionals from Mecklenburg and surrounding counties--Cabbarus, Union, Iredell and the like. MASAP is run by the MASAP Planning Committee, a group of dedicated individuals who are passionate about providing hands-on, quality professional development for those working with children and youth in out-of-school time.
Committee members currently hail from Cabarrus County Cooperative Extension Service, Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension Service, an Independent School-Age Specialist and one volunteer. (Be part of the planning! Ask at your next training.)
MASAP has been in existence for over twenty-five years. In the early days, workshops were only an hour and a half, with a half hour for a membership meeting. Over the years, the "meeting" portion was condensed and workshops were two hours in length. Starting in the 2011-2012 school year, MASAP changed once again, to reflect the times we are in, as well as to put a stronger emphasis on professional development. With a working partnership with both the Cabarrus County and Mecklenburg County Cooperative Extension Service/4H, MASAP has been able to offer field-tested curriculum for a broader scope of Leaf & STEM-based learning (Outdoor emphasis plus Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.)
MASAP continues to survey its membership as to what types of trainings are needed. We have covered a broad range including: Partnering with Families and the Community, Behavioral issues, Active Games, Teambuilding, Literacy Facillitation, Science, Math, Cooking, Fitness, Body Image, and much, much more.
Although membership payment is only accepted via check, REGISTRATION is now ONLY accepted online. Visit: http://masapnc.eventbrite.com to register for a class.
